چکیده
i dult bowel intussusception is distinctly uncommon and most often due to a primary abnorality of the bowel serving as the nidus.1 We illusrate a case of spontaneous jejunal intussusception eveloping shortly after transperitoneal nephrecomy, highlighting the importance of considering his rare etiology in the urologic patient.2–5 Uncomplicated right radical nephrectomy and evel II caval thrombectomy was performed hrough an abdominal incision. Examination of he bowel did not reveal extrinsic abnormalities or erniations. His diet was advanced after flatus day 5). However, he had sporadic emesis and raiographic findings consistent with ileus. Suspiion of an obstructive cause of persistent nausea ed to computed tomography (Fig. 1). Observation as continued (10 days) with minimal abdominal ain and flatus, but occasional emesis. Owing to a ack of clinical or radiographic resolution, he unerwent laparotomy and resection of the intussuseption (Fig. 2). Limited data are available regarding the optimal anagement of idiopathic adult intussusception. raditionally, the likely presence of an underlying tiology (eg, lipoma, tumor), potential for bowel schemia, and mortality (up to 29%) argued for arly surgery. However, lipomas with diameters of >20 mm tend to be symptomatic, for example, to cause bleeding, obstructive jaundice, abdominal pain, intestinal obstruction, intussusception, and/or perforation. METHODS/RESULTS We report a case of massive gastrointestinal bleeding from a jejuna...
